THE ADVENTURE
If you enjoy wild
country, join Hank and Carol Fischer and their son Andy on a
five-day fishing/wildlife adventure down Alaska’s “wild and
scenic” Talachulitna River. It’s been called “The River of
Kings” because of its healthy run of huge king salmon. They
average about 25 pounds and the largest will go more than
60. We’ll float for more than fifty miles on a largely
gentle river (two canyons with modest whitewater provide
some excitement) that is wadeable for its entire length.
Andy Fischer has
guided on the Tal for the last three years, and he knows all
the best fishing spots and all the great campsites. We will
supply river equipment (three
inflatable rafts),
tents, sleeping bags as well as first-class outdoor meals.
The
trip starts in Anchorage with a
30-minute float plane trip over tundra, marshes and
mountain tops until we reach Judd Lake, where the Tal originates. Nestled
in the heart of the snow-capped
Alaska Range, the Tal offers great wildlife watching as well
as world-class fishing. Expect to see bears, beaver,
eagles, moose and maybe an otter or a wolf. Whether
you are a serious fishing person or just a lover of wild
places, come join us for an incredible
small-group wilderness adventure.
